Most of what dies after planting dies from how it went in: a hole too shallow, roots left circling the pot, or a sun-loving shrub on the shady side of the house. I plant for the spot it’s going into, not just the spot that’s empty.
That covers anything from a few flowers by the front steps to building a new bed from bare lawn and filling it with shrubbery. Because I’m already at your yard every week, I can keep an eye on new plantings while they settle in.
